How does one start building a morning ritual? If we begin by defining our expectations then we'll have an understanding of our general direction and won't be so surprised by what we might encounter. For example, whereas I might've experienced disappointment in myself for not using my time more wisely, perhaps my knowledge of myself will spare me. For now I understand that sometimes, one must wrestle with themselves before they act. And while we have often called this indecisiveness, this struggle is perhaps one of the most important of human characteristics.
Firstly, a morning ritual should begin in the morning. This is the hardest part of it in my opinion. Sleep is, to too many, a great puzzle whose cost in time and energy (or lack of) may go unsolved throughout their lives. I remember growing up, learning that science understands very little about sleep. We understand the effects of sleep and even the brains processes during sleep, but it's not something we've learned to harness. Ultimately, as of now, it goes without saying that good sleep is essential to a good life.
So the first part of our morning ritual should be that we wake up feeling rested. Consequently this means waking at the right hour and, assuming we're waking up early, that we fall asleep early enough the previous night. Therefore ones morning ritual is inevitably tied to a resting ritual. Which sounds like I've come a long way to say the obvious; that to wake up early one must sleep early. But as I've stated, there's something to be got in wrestling with ones self. --- END, 7:58 AM.
